Cold patch asphalt is a new type of modified asphalt and Cold Patch Asphalt Mixture because it is not affected by climate and weather conditions,convenient construction,energy saving,environmental protection,In recent years,this material get the favour of more and more pavement maintenance department.However,due to the price of Cold Patch Asphalt produced abroad is high,and it is not suitable for our country.And owing to lack of unified Cold Patch Asphalt Mixture Test methods and performance evaluation index,the quality of domestic product is uneven,pavement performance has many problems,such as low initial strength,rutting resistance poor,poor water stability,short service life and other issues,These problems greatly restrict the cold patch asphalt application in road maintenance industry.Therefore,it is necessary to reseach the cold repair asphalt which has good pavement performance and low price.Based on the depth analysis of cold patch asphalt mixture material in the formation principle and mixture strength formation mechanism,this paper used a variety of mineral clays as cold patch asphalt additives,and using diesel oil as diluting agent,preparation of cold patch asphalt mixture with fiber and resin as modifier.The pavement performance of Cold Patch Asphalt mixture was studied by Marshall test,immersion Marshall test,low temperature workability test,rutting test and adhesion test.The results show that the diesel oil as diluting agent has a good effect on the low temperature workability of cold patching asphalt mixture.Mineral clays are used as the additive which can improve the pavement performance,such as forming strength,water stability and high temperature stability.The effect of fiber content on the pavement performance of Cold Patch Asphalt mixture is analyzed by Marshall test,Rutting test of cold patching asphalt mixture with different fiber content.The experiments show that the incorporation of fiber is helpful to improve the forming strength,water stability and high temperature stability.However,the improving effect is restricted by the correspondingly increased asphalt content.When the content of fiber overabundance will make it difficult to mix and easy to segregate,which could influence the bond behavior of mixture and reduce the pavement performance of cold patch asphalt mixture.Comprehensive consideration,when the asphalt content is 5.3%,under wet mixing the fiber content select 0.28%,under dry mixing the fiber content select 0.375%,prepared mixture has the best modification effect,and the best pavement performance.The pavement performance of cold patch asphalt mixture modified by fiber can be compared with cold patch asphalt mixture modified by resin.In this paper,after a large number of indoor experiments,pavement tests were conducted in December,the results show that the diesel oil as diluting agent,mineral clays as additive,adding fiber prepared cold asphalt mixture,which has excellent pavement performance,low price,are a good material for road maintenance that can be widely applied.
