The lack of support platform for fine design in domestic marine diesel engine manufacturing industry disables the quantitative evaluation of multi-process design. New diesel design and corresponding cost analysis narrowly rely on empirical evidence, design cycle prolonged, and design cost increasing. Researches on digital assembly process design,simulation platform, three-dimensional assembly process database, rule base and other related databases of marine diesel engine, lay the base for the design, production, and development of marine diesel engine, and thus enhance the quick response capability of the digitized industry.This paper conducts researches as follows:(1) It researches on the definition of full three-dimensional model for the establishment of a unified three-dimensional model and data sources, and on assembly information feedback technology.(2)It researches on three-dimensional assembly process design to visualize the description of assembly sequence, method, technology requirements of the products or components, and equipment, tooling and tool instruments employed in the assembling process.(3) It proves that through assembly process simulation of three-dimensional marine diesel engine, assembly path generation rule-based and simulation and interference detection,assembly interference is significantly reduced, time for preparation shortened, assembly quality improved.(4) It tests through the analysis of a given type of diesel engine assembly process design,simulation, and application technology, to carry out a three-dimensional object model diesel,validation and application of technology to address problems concerning the availability of the platform, ease of use, stability and other issues.
