As the function of the large space buildings, there are no fire and smoke prevention zones in the buildings, which makes the fire load large to bear under the building fire. Moreover, the space is too large for fire plume and it's easy to absorb the air and cause more serious fire accident than usual buildings. Besides these, there are also some other characteristics:a) It's not easy to separate the prevention zone; b) The fire can not be detected by ordinary fire detection technology; c) Common water spray fire extinguishing devices can not effectively play a role; d) Safety evacuation of personnel is quite difficult; e) It can cause serious damage to the building structure. For all these reasons, studying on the development of large space fire and fire prevention measures have great significance to the construction industry and fire fighting industry.At present, to study the development of large space fire, many researchers devote their efforts to this field. Many calculation models, like Field Model, Region Model, are relatively mature. Analysis software develops faster than before. The calculation model of large space fire is summarized in this paper. In order to get the development rules and effective preventive measures of fire in general large space, three different models are compared in paper and finite element model has been established by using ANSYS and FLUENT to simulate a large span plant under the fire and analyze the stress and displacement of it.In this paper, the existing models of several kinds of large space fire are introduced in detail, including the fire warming model, plume temperature calculation model and calculation model of ceiling jet. By comparison, the calculation model for use of engineering are based on the original model, but has been modified by combining the actual situation of the fire monitoring. Besides three different materials for fire protection:organic, inorganic, composite materials are compared in this paper. Some proposals for protection are presented in paper.Using the finite element analysis software, a steel plant with 25m span has been established in paper. With the FLUENT, a fire model using turbulence model is set. And the stress, displacement, temperature of the members are detected. By analyzing this parameters, the development of large space building fire could be found out and some useful proposals for fire protections are proposed in paper.
