Photonic crystal fibers in two-dimensional structure of its transverse section have cyclicality, so we need to measure the photonic crystal fibers azimuth angel in the production of a number of fiber-coupled devices, carving photonic crystal fiber, etc. In order to adapt the requirement of determining and fixing the azimuth angles of photonic crystal fibers(PCFs), we did an engineering research of the machine to determine the azimuth angles of photonic crystal fibers, and developed an on-line detection equipment. Based on previous fiber side-polished machine, we did an engineering design of the machine?made an model machine and determine the azimuth angles of fibers. The specific work is as follows:(1)Firstly, based on the principle of forward scattering pattern characteristic method, we confirmed the standard of the components we need, and designed the whole system.(2)In making the prototype, we identify the metrics for each part of the instrument, and stereotype the parts. Then all parts are assembled into a reliable and stable system and tested. Through several experiments, we determine the optimal combination instrument mode, and calibrate its parameters.(3) On the basis of the stereotype on the program, in order to verify the system in practical application, we have the three fiber tested to verify the effectiveness of the entire system.The innovation lies in:For the first time we combined the fiber side-polished machine and the azimuth angel measuring device to form a stable and reliable on-line monitoring instrument.
