In the background of promoting energy-saving and emission-reduction, low carbon transportation, the electric vehicles (EVs) have been developed very quickly because of its non-pollution, low noise, and high efficiency. The proposed magnetic-geared self-decelerating permanent magnet motor in this paper is particularly suitable for EVs for the advantages of high efficiency, high power density and high reliability. The motor drive system is important for electric vehicles. The two-level inverter is applied in the traditional motor drive system, but the harmonic content in output voltage is big, the energy utilization is low, and the fault tolerant ability is poor.The open-winding motor based on dual inverter has been paid much attention for the advantages of high utilization of DC power supply, better fault tolerance, and high power output. The dual-inverter system is also called open-winding motor topology, which feeds the six-wire of the stator windings respectively with a two level standard voltage inverter. In this paper, based on the open winding self-decelerating permanent magnet motor, a deep research has been made on the open circuit fault of the winding. The research is the foundation for the further research of the open winding motor, and it is suitable for application in the fault tolerant control of drive systemFirst, the research status for the magnetic-geared self-decelerating permanent magnet motor is introduced and the research of the open-winding motor control system is described. The status of fault tolerant control of drive system is presented. And the open winding motor topology and operating principle are analyzed. Then the mathematical model of the open-winding motor is established.Secondly, the space vector pulse width modulation is introduced. The basic principle of open-winding motor supplied by dual inverter is analyzed. The vector control system of the open winding motor is established, in which the system model is built based on Matlab/Simulink, and the simulation results are analyzed. The simulation results have verified the performance of the proposed control system.Then, the paper focuses on the single phase open circuit fault of the open winding motor vector control system, analyzes its fault-tolerant control principle in detail, and proposes a two-phase dual-H bridge fault tolerant control strategy. Based on this, an improved dual-H bridge fault-tolerant control strategy is proposed to suppress the motor's torque ripple. Based on Matlab/Simulink, the fault-tolerant control system model is built. The simulation results are studied, and the theoretical analysis is verified.Finally, the experimental platform for the open-winding motor fault tolerant control system is built by using dSPACE. The experiment results demonstrate that the open-winding motor fault-tolerant control system has good operating and fault-tolerant performance.
