In recent years, water pollution is getting worse, water is essential substance to all people and even livings. At the same time, water is also a wide channels to spread various diseases. In addition to a large number of chemical substances into the water, new pathogenic microorganisms, viruses be found in drinking water.the issue of Health and safety of drinking water become more and more cause for concern. So far there have been many disinfection technology to remove pathogenic microorganisms, such as Chlorine disinfection,Ultraviolet disinfection, ozone disinfection. And chlorine disinfection will produce a lot of carcinogenic disinfection byproducts.as trihalomethanes, haloacetic acids, etc.Hydrodynamic cavitation is a novel technique of drinking water treatment. The water containing Escherichiacoli was treated by a hydrodynamic cavitation device with circular orifices plates. The inactivation efficiency of hydrodynamic cavitation on E.coli in water was evaluated by the killing rate. The effects of cavitation number, velocity through orifices, orifice arrangement and processing time on thesterilization efficiency were analyzed. To provide an experimental reference for exploring the new way of drinking water disinfection. The experimental results showed that enhancing the velocity, choosing the appropriate initial concentration, improving the treatment time and increasing the number and decreasing the size of orifice on the plates can increase the killing rate of Escherichia coli in water.Reducing the cavitation number, increasing the hole number, increasing the velocity, increasing the reaction time or using stagger orifices can enhance the killing rate of the bacteria.
