Traffic safety problems has attracted more and more attention because of the frequent occurrence of traffic accidents. The use of vehicle collision avoidance radar technology can effectively reduce the incidence of road traffic accidents,improve the traffic safety. It is urgent to research and develop on FMCW millimeter wave radar because it is the most promising technology in the field of vehicle active anti-collision. Under this background, based on the good properties of the FMCW radar itself, developing automotive anti-collision radar technology seems to be realistic and promising.This thesis carried out penetrating analysis on the millimeter wave automotive anti-collision radar system, focusing on the principle of the millimeter wave automotive anti-collision radar, the processing algorithm of radar echo signal and its FPGA implementation technology. The main work includes:1. The research background and significance of millimeter-wave automotive anti-collision radar were investigated, present domestic and foreign research situations were summarized and existing problems and corresponding measures were discussed. Based on these work, a signal processing program of millimeter-wave automotive anti-collision radar applied to expressway was put forward and validated by simulations.2. The FMCW radar signals were analyzed in theories, the principle of speed and distance measuring were studied and various performance parameters and the influence of the hardware structure on system performance index were comprehended.3. Radar echo signal processing process was used via theoretical analysis and MATLAB simulation, and then respectively using Cell-averaging CFAR detection algorithm, Greatest Option CFAR detection algorithm in order toensure high target correct detection probability as far as possible under low false-alarm probability.4. Tracks correlation can take advantage of the multiple frame correlation of radar data to effectively reduce the error detection possibility of radar. This paper discussed the effect of using the Kalman filtering method to forecast the track of a single target. MATLAB is applied to the simulation process, and I analyzed experimental result theoretically.5. In the implementation technology of radar signal processing algorithms, I gave priority to the FPGA implementation technology. By seeking compromise algorithm in the precision and computational complexity, I got fast algorithm which was able to meet the performance requirements, programmed the FPGA program algorithm, and finally acquired radar target status information.
