Columns of non-platform-column canopy structure (NPCCS) are set between the station railways or outside the platform, and the structure is increasing widely used for the excellent permeability. NPCCS in Shenyang North Railway Station (SNRS) is chose as the research object to study its security behavior and state evaluation by the integrated use of empirical research and the finite element analysis. Based on the qualitative analysis of unidirectional beam cable-stayed structure system, the sensitivity analysis on behavior parameters, including the main truss girder stiffness, the density of the main truss girder, the performance degradation parameters of the cable and uneven settlement of columns, is carried out. And the quantitative results, including the reflection, stress, and frequency are acquired. Furthermore, the two-stage model updating method is proposed from the idea of the objective weighting factor, and the objective quantitative evaluation for the safety performance is put forward. Some beneficial results are acquired, which are summarized as followed. For the NPCCS in SNRS, the deformation is the most sensitive indicator, while the dynamic indicator is less sensitive; the proposed two-stage model updating method not only can embody all the parameters (parameter uncertainty or uncertainty parameters) for model updating, but also can quantitatively determine the contribution of each index through the normalization process. Meanwhile numerical examples demonstrate the high precision of correction results, while research ideas and methods adapted in the paper are applicable to similar structure.
