Thin-walled cylindrical Shell structures have been widely used in so many engineering areas, it is usually subjected to complex force, therefore, the analysis of vibration response of the rotating thin cylindrical shells under forced excitation is important for guiding the design of components and fault diagnosis. This dissertation describes the research background of analysis of cylindrical shell structural dynamics, brief reviews the free vibration, transient response, steady state response, experimental method of response and finite element method of response of cylindrical shells and describes the main contents.According to Love's shell theory, describes the relationships of strain and displacement, stress and strain and internal force expressions, and implemented into the dynamic equilibrium equations by using Hamilton's Principle. The modal functions were composed by beam functions in axial direction and trigonometric functions in circumferential direction. Using Galerkin to calculate the natural characteristic of the cylindrical Shells in different boundary conditions. The bifurcations of natural frequencies due to Coriolis force are discussed for rotating cylindrical shells.the forced vibrations with point loading of rotating orthotropic cylindrical shells are investigated, using beaming functions to replace the Axial mode function, and making use of the orthogonality of trigonometric functions, every set of generalized coordinates is uncoupled and forms a set of second-order different equations. Using the constant point load and harmonic load to analyze the response of shells, and get the resonance frequencies. An approximation method for solving response problems rotating cylindrical shells is illustrated and the solution process is simplified. The two method is compared and verify the feasibility of the approximate solution. Testing method is used to compared with analytical results.
