Zao river and Ba river are the branches of Wei river and run through the whole xi'an city.They play important roles in the economic development of xi'an city.Recently,Zao river and Ba river are polluted more seriously than before resulted from human activities and economic growth.In our research,phonel,bisphenol A(BPA),2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)and pentachlorophenol(PCP)in the two rivers are selected as target compounds.We systematically study pollution characteristic,distribution regularities and pollution level of phenolic endocrine disrupting chemicals(EDCs)in water,interstitial water and sediment.Additionally,the risk quotient(RQ)method is employed to evaluate ecosystem risk of phenolic EDCs in both rivers.The typical results are shown as below.Firstly,the phenolic EDCs concentration detected in water from Zao river and Ba river were 0.12~34.15?g/L and 0.01~12.37?g/L,respectively.The higher concentration of phonel than that of other EDCs suggested that phonel was major contamination in the rivers.Compared with other surface water at home and abroad,the concentrations of phenolic EDCs in the rivers were at middle level.Secondly,the detection rate for phenolic EDCs in interstitial water from Zao river was 100%.The concentrations of phonel,BPA,2,4-DCP and PCP were 32.86~72.13 ?g/L,1.58~7.63 ?g/L,0.97~ 4.55 ?g/L and 2.09~32.64 ?g/L respectively.Thirdly,the phenolic EDCs concentrations in sediment from the two rivers were 1.50×10-2~11.79 ?g/g and 0.29×10-2~3.27 ?g/g,respectively.Phonel was major contamination in sediment from Zao river.The phonel content firstly increased,then decreased and finally increased again.In addition,the concentrations of phonel and PCP in Ba river sediment were 21.50~87.20% and 45.03~67.20% respectively,which were higher than that of other EDCs.Compared with other surface water sediment at home and abroad,the concentrations of phenolic EDCs in the two rivers were at middle level.Finally,ecosystem risk assessment of phenolic EDCs in water,interstitial water and sediment from Zao river and Ba river were made.In water,the RQ values of phonel and BPA were greater than one,which suggested the existence of potential ecosystem risk.However,the RQ values of 2,4-DCP and PCP were less than one,indicating low ecosystem risk.Meanwhile,RQ values of 2,4-DCP and PCP in sediment were less than one,indicating low ecosystem risk and weak pollution in the two rivers.
