In this paper,glass fiber(GF)reinforced polyphenylene sulfide(PPS)composites were prepared by melt blending.The effects of the types of PPS resin?the types of fibers?glass fiber content?the types of silane coupling agents? the types of fillers and whisker content on the mechanical properties of these composites were studied in turn.The non-isothermal crystallization behavior of PPS/GF composites was tested by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC).The rheological behavior of PPS/GF/whisker composites was studied by capillary rheometer.The results showed that glass fiber reinforced PPS composites had better properties.With the increasing of glass fiber content?the flexural strength?tensile strength?the Izod notched impact strength?the Izod impact strength? the temperature of deflection under load and the initial decomposition temperature of PPS/GF composites increased gradually.In addition,the addition of silane coupling agent KH560 could improve the performance of PPS/GF composites well.When glass fiber content was 40%,the flexural strength was 270 MPa,the tensile strength was 154 MPa,the Izod unnotched impact strength was 35kJ/m2,the Izod notched impact strength was 8.6kJ/m2,the temperature of deflection under load was 152?.The crystallization behavior of PPS/GF composites was analyzed by DSC.The results showed that the crystallization peak of PPS/GF composites shifted to the low temperature gradually with the increasing of the cooling rate.The half-crystallization time was reduced and the full width at half maximum was increased.Ozawa method and R-t method could analyze non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of PPS/GF composites well.Comparing the enhancement effect of different fillers in PPS/GF=60/40 system,it was found that the enhancement effect of 1# whisker was better.With the increasing of whisker content,the tensile strength ? flexural strength and impact strength of PPS/GF/whisker composites increased first and then decreased,and the temperature of deflection under load tended to decrease gradually.From TGA results,we could see the decomposition temperature of PPS/GF/whisker composites increased with the increasing of whisker content.It could be seen from DSC results that when whisker content was little,the crystallization peak moved to the high temperature direction,but when the whisker content was more than 20 phr,the crystallization peak moved slightly to the low temperature direction.The results showed that the viscosity of PPS/GF composites decreased with the increasing of shear rate,and presented a significant "shear thinning" behavior.With the increasing of glass fiber content,the viscosity of PPS/GF composites gradually increased,and the value of Non-Newtonian index n gradually decreased.When the experiment temperature and shear rate were the same,whisker content was 5 phr,the viscosity of PPS/GF/ whisker composite was the lowest,the structural viscosity index of this composite was higher than other composites,and the spinning performance of this composite was better than other composites.The viscosity of PPS/GF/ whisker composites increased with the increasing of whisker content.With the increasing of the experiment temperature,the viscosity of PPS/GF/ whisker composites decreased gradually.At 310?~315 ?,the decreasing of the structural viscosity index of the composites was the smallest,which indicated that the melt flow was the stablest in this temperature range.
