As the most commonly used separation operation in chemical industry,the application of distillation has a long history.Usually,it also consumes the most energy in the whole process.Chemical industry has been the lifeblood of a country all the time.However,the development of chemical industry has been seriously hampered by the status quo of energy shortage and environmental degradation.It's imperative that we utilize energy-efficient and eco-friendly plants.Dividing wall column is an outstanding representative of these ones.DWC is the implementation form of the fully thermally coupled distillation column.The column is divided into two parts by the wall placed in interior,so that the original separation task which needs two columns can be accomplished in one column.Although DWC's energy-saving effect is remarkable,the structural design and control program arrangements is quiet difficult.This paper selected the case which separates BTX system and researched on comprehensive design,optimization and control scheme of DWC using process simulation.Firstly,initial design was fulfilled by improved FUG method.Then appropriate design was identified with the help of steady state simulation software.The results showed that the quality of 3 products reached 99%and the energy consumption was 27.5%than the direct separation sequence.Furthermore,the dynamic model of DWC was established by the utilization of the trays model in DSO platform.The dynamic model by using DSO platform can describe the prototype of DWC accurately.After repeated debugging,startup testing was successfully carried out with three-point concentration control scheme.The results showed that the quality could also reach 98%.Finally,by applying various disturbances and observing the trend,dynamic characteristics of DWC was inspected.Previous work about dynamic research of DWC was mostly carried out by Aspen Dynamics.This paper depended on DSO platform and could broaden the research direction and ideas.The results could provide a valuable reference for the further study on DWC.
