Dust fall is a significant part of atmospheric particulate matter. It greatly affects internal sphere cycles, material conversion, and climate aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem. Panzhihua is located in Sichuan Province in north-eastern area. It is a typical heavy industrial city surrounded by numerous coal and limestone districts, which owns a mega vanadium titano magnetite.Dust fall reflects the extent to which production activities affects atmospheric environment. Many researchers have analyzed soil, atmospheric particulate matter, and steam segments in Panzhihua. When it comes to dust fall, few scholars have done it. This essay focuses on Panzhihhua, which is divided into 6 parts from west to east along Jinsha River. We have assessed amounts of heavy metal elements in dust fall samples collected and analyzed characteristics and sources of heavy metal pollution.Risk assessments are performed and rational suggestions offered to take measures to curb air pollution.We have analyzed the amount of heavy metal in dust fall. Results show that the amount of heavy metal elements in mineral district Panzhihua are relatively high in mineral district Panzhihua, except element Zn. The amounts of lements Cr, V, Ti and so on related to mineral activities double or even triple that of the rest of cities in Sichuan Province. The high value sector is in vanadium titano magnetite districts and smelting districts.Results of analysis concentration factor and main component showthat elements As, Cd, Pb and Zn focused in Pan Steel. Elements Cr, Ni, Ti and V focused in invanadium titano magnetite area, which are affected by human activities hugely. EF value is at high level. How Pan Steel process steel and how mineral is collected and transported lead to high value of heavy metal elements.According to the results of monitor sites in panzhihua, Potential risk assessments have been performed by way of figures of relative eco-risk indexs and mineral. Potential heavy mental risk assessments show that heavy metal eco-riskis at low to moderate level, while the heavy metal measurement is at high to extremely high level in smelting and invanadium titano magnetite districts.Assessment of health risk show that children exposed in the areas are more vulnerable to cancer. Their non-carcinogenic risk is higher. Some of heavy metal non-carcinogenic risks are nine times more than that of adult. Measures should be taken to protect children. Heavy metal is no factor of causing cancer.Results of cancer causing by ways of inhaling show for heavy metal elements(Cr?Ni?As?Cd), its carcinogenic risk rate is lower than carcinogenic risk for both children and adult. However, heavy metal element(Cr) is at max carcinogenic risk rate.Panzhihua is confronting environmental deterioration and civic health risk, which has been employing mineral resources extensively. Several measures are offered to improve and protect eco-environment in mineral districts.Government should make plans to refresh eco-environment along with more funds for ecological restoration. Meanwhile, more measures should be taken to enlarge reformation of enterprises, improve business responsibilities and raise environmental awareness.
