Due to the harsh natural conditions and undeveloped traffic in the alpine and highaltitude areas,it is difficult to carry out regional geological surveys and the level of research is low.Remote sensing images overcome the limitations of natural geographical conditions,provide surface information in the study area in an efficient and inexpensive manner,and have application prospects widely.In this research,we selected Ganquan River area in the western part of the East Kunlun Mountains as the study area and interpreted the information of stratum,lithology and structure with Landsat8 and SPOT-6 data.For those areas that could not be reached,a comparative analysis of the verified areas was conducted to make inference interpretation,which improved the accuracy,completeness,and work efficiency of 1:50,000 geological mapping.The main research results and conclusions of the paper are as follows:(1)Research on image color enhancement was carried out.We selected two common methods of band combination and principal component analysis to perform experiments,and proposed an enhanced method based on K-T transform and band operation(modified K-T transform).Through visual interpretation,we thought that band combination enhanced color and texture information to a extent and principal component analysis enriched images color but weakened texture information.In general,these two methods can basically distinguish the major stratum in the study area and are suitable for the lithologic classification in the large study areas.The improved K-T transformation can enhance the texture information,and has good results for the interpretation of some stratum whose lithology is known but the boundary is not easily determined.(2)The image linear enhancement study was carried out.We selected directional filtering,Sobel edge detection,Roberts to enhance the fracture structure with Landsat8 data.The results showed that the Sobel effect is the best.Then we used these three methods to enhance the small fold structure with SPOT-6 data and got good result by 45° directional filtering.(3)Landsat8 image has rich colors and high spectral resolution,which can basically complete the 1:50000 lithology classification requirements.But for some minor structural interpretations,the effect of landsat8 is not satisfactory,we need SPOT-6 image to assist interpretation.(4)In this study,we identified 12 strata and 67 fractures totally and revealed the distribution and formation sequence of the faults.These information can provide a reference for 1:50,000 regional geological survey of the Ganquanhe area in the western section.
