The weather radar plays more and more important role of forecasting severe weather, quantitative estimates of precipitation and prediction of flood monitoring as an important monitoring tool in small and medium scale of severe weather. If the weather radar transmitter system normally work or not will affect the result of forecasting severe weather, quantitative estimates of precipitation and prediction of flood monitoring.Weather radar station use digital oscilloscope and power meter to measure radar transmitter system in radar coupling recently. The object of this paper is C-band Double Polarization Doppler Weather Radar on the roof of Meteorological Building in NUIST. The paper proposes the method that microstrip antenna measures real time radar transmitter system in the direct wave. The main content of the paper includes the following parts:The paper designs a C-band microstrip antenna array based on the theory of microstrip antenna, according to the direction, total gain and frequency band of antenna array, and simulation analysis is carried out on the design 3D model. A C-band coaxial cavity band-pass filter is designed based on the prototype of Chebyshev filter. The paper designs a electric performance test platform of microstrip antenna array , and measures antenna main lobe width of E-3dB. The result compares with microwave room test report, it shows that the platform has a high accuracy and is convenient. So the paper proposes a improved method of FPGA,Single chip microcomputer and display to measure antenna automatically. Finally we use 4×4 microstrip antenna array fabricated to analyze C-band radar signal, and finish the basic monitoring work, including PRF, pulse width, rotation period and double polarization. The experiment reaches the primary targets.
