With the arrival of mobile Internet era, the mobile reading market is getting more and more competitive. Apps of mobile reading have been put a high value in the biggest Chinese Internet companies such as Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent. The content in reading Apps is no longer the key factor in the market share competition. Alternatively, a positive user experience has been the core competence of mobile Apps because users could try different apps and choose his/her favorite ones. While analyzing how effectively an application provides for a net positive user experience can often turn into a subjective affair and it’s difficult to quantify. This article reviews the characteristics of mobile applications and put up a model measuring the user experience of a mobile reading APP. In the model the user experience is primarily made up of four factors:interaction design, functionality, visual design, content. For these four elements 18 parameters were created. The weight of a particular elements was set with the analytic hierarchy process. So does the weight of each parameter of an element. Once a score was gave to each statement, we could get a total score as the user experience indicator for a reading App. Meanwhile, the priority of the experience problem could be confirmed by multiplying the score of each parameter by the weight. The model was applied to measuring the use experience of TianYi-reading. We found problems of functional redundancy with the menu navigation, consistency in interaction design, categories of content and user interface. Finally, some comments were given to improve the user experience in the reading function, social function, menu navigation arrangement, the flow path of recharging and buying, user interface design, categorizing of content, content filtering and so on.
