With the rapid development of the electric power industry, transformer radiator industry has been an unprecedented development. Radiator industry reaches a wide market, but also is facing increased competition, cost increased situation and the more and more high quality requirements. Therefore, reducing waste, improving production efficiency and product quality are becoming the most important problems solved by companies.The paper researches Company M’s transformer radiator line by guidance theory of Lean Thinking, discusses the improve direction of transformer radiator line. Its main contents are as follows:(1) The paper studies the production process and present status of transformer radiator line by appling Valve Stream Mapping, draws the radiator production Valve Stream Mapping, and finds problems of production process and waiting for waste.(2) The paper also applies production process analysis and program analysis to research and analysis the radiator assembly and welding production process, disc-usses the long distance transport, complicated operation and long time production flow, and admeasures and analysis operating time of keyprocess such as assembly, U welding and C welding.(3) On the basis of research and analysis result which is building on the traditional radiator assembly and welding production process, Company M focuses on study the auto assembly and welding production technology and develop assembly and welding production line, at the same time, Company M also changes the radiator panel flanging structure, and improves the problems lied in the radiator panel line’s, so that it can eliminates a lot of waste, shortens the production cycle and transport distance, improves quality and production efficiency.(4) The paper expounds the radiator line automation improvement effect by assessing the economic efficiency before and after automation improvement.Last, through summarizing application prospects that lean production is applied in radiator manufacturing industry, the paper describes the application prospects and significance of lean thinking in manufacturing industry.
