On The Problems Of New-type Urbanization In Jilin Province And Their Solutions

The new-type urbanization, different from the traditional urbanization, featuresnot the objective to simply realize the economic growth, but the predominanttendency to promote the process of rural-urban integration to intensiveness, pluralism,synchronism, harmony and the final stage of people’s free and all-round development.At the turn of the century, the10th five-year plan outlined the urbanization as asignificant strategy for fundamentally resolving the problems of agriculture andfarmers, as well as a key pivot for building moderately prosperous society and rankingin modern countries. Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy,Jilin province has been developing fast in the economic society and growing rapidlyin the rate of urbanization. Even so, Jilin Province’s urbanization still takes on a stateof disequilibrium distribution and a practical problem of poor development quality. Itis still faced with a series of burning questions, like low land utilization rate, slowprogress of urbanization of rural population, serious ecological disruption anddefective social security system, etc. The author, integrating with his knowledge ofthe Evolution History of Marxism and proceeding from a research on the theoreticalsource of new-type urbanization’s concepts, traces back the development path of thenew-type urbanization in Jilin Province, and makes an analysis of the realistic choices,existing strengths and weaknesses, so as to strive to explore a path of development ofthe new-type urbanization conforming to the reality of our province.
