Medium and large architectural design enterprises in our country have adopted the planned management system for a long time. Basically, they all adopt traditional linear function "company-comprehensive division" management mode. In this management mode, human resource can not be deployed effectively, meanwhile, maket and technological resource can not be shared sufficiently. So, this mode can not adapt the maket any more and restrict development of the company.At present, with the slowing down of national economy growth and the gradual change of investment-led economy growth mode, the development of construction industry will change from highspeed stage to stable stage and prosperity which is created simply by the the expansion of fixed-asset investment will encounter dilemma. Therefore, the management mode of architectural design enterprises are urgent to be innovated. Since the1960s, Project management is widely used in social, economic and living fields which construction industry is included and has got distinguished achievement.Based on the analysis of the architectural characteristic, traditional operation management model and industry competition model, this thesis, which started with the related conception of project management and Matrix project organization and management mode, has analysed the characteristic, merit and demerit of4kinds of organizations in project management. Simultaneously, this thesis has researched and summarized two cases in which Matrix project organization and management mode is implemented. Taking Yunnan Design Institute group as an example, this thesis uses "Michael Porter’s Five Forces Model", SWOT analytical method and BCG Matrix to make enterprise development strategy and business structure in the future. This thesis detailly introducts the YDI group’s Matrix project organization and management mode which bases on the combination of the specialty division system and project manager system, and also explains the reformation method of Matrix project organization and management mode which bases on the combination of Group-subcompany system and project manager system. Finally, this thesis summarizes five aspects problems and relevant answers when medium and large enterprises use the Matrix project organization and management mode.This thesis will have certain guidance value and practical significance to the management innovation of medium and large architectural design enterprises at the present maket situation and reformation of YDI group.
