| With the arrival of knowledge-driven economy era, knowledge management is getting increasingly important in both management practice and theorical research of organizational learning. As the basis procedure of organizational learning, knowledge absorption is absolutely essential to enterprise innovation, and it would enhance the core competitiveness of a company. Absorptive capacity, as the dynamic ability to recognize, acquire, assimilate and commercialize knowledge from external knowledge network, has been studied both by Chinese and foreign scholars. Although some scholars have developed the dynamic connotation of absorptive capacity, there is still a theory gap in the issue of its internal cross-level evolution. Therefore, this study hass proposed a comprehensive mechanism of absorptive capacity evilution. Firstly, this thesis develops a cross-level evolution model of absorptive capacity based on the nultilevel view. And according to the division of former related research, a multilevel framework is put forward with three modules and two levels. Secondly, a structural equation model is developed and seven hypotheses are proposed. Then, we investigated30groups in27corporations, and obtained147samples. With the analysis of Smart PLS, it has been supported that knowledge sharing between individuals in a department has a significant mediating effect on the internal cross-level evolution of absorptive capacity. Besides that, three influential factors from unit level have been tested. Our results state that the cross-level evolution of absorptive capacity would be affected by the shared vision and the knowledge-exchange platform from higher level in a firm. And the data validations have indicated that a unit’s absorptive capacity would determine its product innovation performance.Finnaly,based on the results above, we have advanced several suggestions that refer to improving an enterprise’s absorptive capacity. |
