With the coming of Internet, the number of Internet users is increasing rapidly, at the same time, users’ demand for network resources is growing exponentially and network is becoming more and more complex and large, so the running status of network is becoming more complicated and changeable. As network resources become increasingly tighter, network burden leads to that network performance can’t reach ideal level. The customers who rent the transmission bandwidth pay more and more attention to business quality and cost, which requires network to meet service level agreements. Therefore the measurement of network performance is becoming particularly important. Existing tester to measure network performance is inconvenient, its interfaces are not unified, and secondary development is difficult. What’s more, it is expensive. The most commonly used measurement standard of network performance is RFC2544, which has limitations. It does not take various test duration into account. A test case can only configure one test flow, which can’t fully simulate real user scenarios and a measure can only test one parameter of network performance. If multiple parameters of network performance are required, the test cases must be configured and executed for many times, which is time consuming and inconvenient. In order to solve the above problems, ITU-T Y.1564 protocol is put forward and the launching module based on ITU-T Y.1564 protocol in the access transport network equipment has been designed and implemented.The function of ITU-T Y.1564 protocol is introduced in detail. At the same time, the important parameters of network performance and specific effect is introduced such as the rate of traffic transfer, time delay, the rate of packet loss, etc. The structure of test is introduced, which mainly includes loopback structure and one-way structure. This thesis adopts loopback structure, which is simple and controllable. By introducing classification of measurement method, we can have a more deeper understanding of network measurement. Second, this thesis analyzes the system design of the launching module in detail. According to the development process of software engineering, we introduce requirement analysis, general design, detailed design and other important stages. Initiating the configuration process, the process of performance parameters, the process of timing query, the measuring process of the availability of the network and other processes are introduced in detail. The key algorithm are studied and designed. Finally, the whole system is tested comprehensively. The experiment results are the same as expectations and the function of the system meets users’needs. And the performance of the system is very good.In addition, ITU-T Y.1564 protocol only stipulates the measurement of network performance on the Ethernet layer. Considering the actual network environment and the demand of the application scenario, the system extends ITU-T Y.1564 protocol to meet the measurement of the IP layer and can achieve greater transmission rate of network traffic to send the packet based on hardware.
