Traveling wave tube is one of the most widely used microwave vacuum electronic components and plays an important role in transportation, construction, field testing, mobile communications, because of its wide band, high magnification, low noise and low distortion rate. How to reduce the failure forms of TWTs caused by the environmental vibration and the working status of high temperature such as short circuit and deformation, is a research hotspot of travelling wave tube. As TWTs is consisted of many small complicated components, it is difficult to used 3d software and finite element emulation software to design and calculate. There are too many factors influence the heat and vibration resistance in the process of production, studying the effect of various factors on the TWTs’ reliability lead to complex design process, long design cycle, the design and manufacture process is complex. Using the computer simulation technology to study and optimize the TWT dynamics is an effective design method.This paper aimed at the domestic and overseas existing problems of the TWTs’ simulation research, optimized the design and simulation work of traveling wave tubes using Pro/E and ANSYS Workbench, emphasized on the analysis of dynamic characteristics of the whole pipe, developed professional design simulation software with good models compatibility and diversified simulation working condition on the basis of the original research of general finite element software development, improved the study of general finite element second development platform. The research work is as follows: First of all, this paper analyzed the impact of the TWTs’ structure size on the vibration resistance, studied the Pro/E parametric design technology, used the unified assembly benchmark way and the technology of parameter passing, worked out the TWT parametric 3d model and completed the 3d modeling parameterized work of traveling wave tube parts; Secondly, the paper used modular method simplify the process of simulation of process parameter settings and completed the TWT’s finite element simulation, which can optimize the settings according to the characteristics of parts of traveling wave tube and improve the layout accuracy and efficiency of traveling wave tube finite element simulation model; Thirdly, the paper used C# design and complete the secondary development of traveling wave tube simulation platform based on ANSYS Workbench according to the needs of its design and simulation work, packaged the 3 d model design and finite element simulation setting functions within the platform; Finally, carried on the comprehensive debugging and running every functional modules of the software through database configuration management of traveling wave tube simulation, completed the optimization design and ANSYS Workbench calculation, got the mode shapes and temperature distribution successfully in the software platform, provided a basis for optimization in design process simulation and proved the feasibility in engineering application of the platform.This article worked out the TWT’s 3d parameterized model assisted by the calculation of Pro/E database through the parametric design, the optimization work of finite element simulation calculation and the secondary development of special design simulation platform of traveling wave tube laid the foundation for engineering applications of simulation optimization design and reliability research of TWTs.
