Because of the limited size of anechoic chamber, it is difficult to obtain the satisfactory plane wave region for large targets. Compact Antenna Test Range(CATR) is a test equipment which can change spherical wave into plane wave due to the smooth reflective surface or the optical lens at close range.It provides an excellent plane wave environment which can fully meet the requirements of the antenna pattern and the far field condition of RCS test. THz CATR detection technology is the foundation of THz target recognition.Based on the background of terahertz CATR detection technology, this paper works on building and adjusting the CATR system made by Xi ’an Hengda Microwave Technology Development Company. After analysing the errors of the system, we start to test the plane wave region of Ka band, 140 GHz and THz band including the amplitude difference and the phase difference and analyse the problems appeared during the test and do further adjustments and further analyses. It proves that the results of the final system are better than before. The quiet area of 0.3THz is 0.2m×0.2m in the distance of 3m, and the results can meet the requirements of CATR plane wave detection. Moreover, these results have important theoretical significance and engineering application value for the development of THz CATR detection technology in the future.In addition, the results are also the solid foundation for further research of Radar Cross Section(RCS) test of THz band.
