With the developments of technology and social needs, 3D printing technology is widely applied in various fields. Compared to domestic desktop 3D printers, imported ones have the advantages of complete functions and good performance, but the prices are higher. Domestic desktop 3D printer is characterized by slow shaping speed and low accuracy for it uses Single Chip Microcomputer as the master chip. The 3D printer system is designed and implemented by using fused deposition technology and 3D scanning technology.Considering the model cost and application prospects first, the overall scheme is designed in this paper by employing fused deposition modeling technology based on 3D printer’s mechanical systems and forming principles. In view of processing performance and O n-chip resources, the LPC1768 chip is selected as the microcontroller of the control system, and further the control system’s hardware circuit is designed, which consists of the stepper motor drive circuit, the print head temperature control circuit, the LCD liquid crystal display circuit and the serial port communication circuit. Correspondingly, the software part of the control system is mainly composed of the stepper motor control program which achieves stable operation of the stepper motor, the temperature control program for preheating and melting the material, the LCD liquid crystal display driver program which allows print status displayed and the serial communication program for data transmission and status monitoring. Next, a virtual 3D model scheme is designed and implemented by using the reverse technology to provide printing data for the machine.Finally, to test the performance of the control system, the model information is collected and then the virtual model is printed by using common materials. Test results show that the 3D printer control system designed in this paper can work, and satisfy the requirement of the basic sample molding.
