The development is from the scale of the extensive growth of speed to the intensive growth of quality and efficiency. In the field of publishing, the traditional way of publishing is being subjected to an unprecedented impact where supply and demand is not matching, inventory issues become a major obstacle to restrict the development of traditional publishing. The emergence of digital publishing led to a major change in the publishing industry, the traditional publishing industry in the face of transformation. As a new form of publication, new publishing ideas, on-demand publishing focus on minority of the book publishing market. It connects the traditional paper-based publishing and digital publishing, reduces the storage cost and the transportation cost of the publishing mechanism and improves the quality and efficiency of book production, publishing industry economic benefits and social benefits of unity.Firstly, this paper defines the concept of the demand for publication, and then analyzes the main differences and relations between the traditional publishing and digital publishing, and introduces the development status quo of the need for publication at domestic region and abroad. In the second part, through analyzing the limitation of the traditional publishing and the superiority of the demand for publication, it is pointed out that the demand for publication is a feasible way of the transformation of traditional publishing. In the third part, the paper mainly discusses the need for the need to be published for the needs of the traditional publishing, technology and business process reengineering, in order to meet the needs of consumers, and thus achieve a healthy and rapid development of the publishing industry. In the fourth part, the paper mainly discusses the Enlightenment of the new formats, such as the public chips mode and the C2D mode, and some suggestions for the future development of the publishing on demand. Finally, this paper affirms that the demand for publication can be regarded as an important supplement to the traditional publishing, possessing a huge market potential and further development of space in the future.
