The media has developed through three main stages: elite media, mass media and personal media. We-media era is the period of personal media, which focuses on that the citizen can provide and share information or messages voluntarily. For its low barrier to entry, we-media can be used easily by paying little, and then, it has been the first choice for cyber citizens to obtain and release information. Both the convenience of We-media and the free loose environment of the Internet create conditions for the activity and development of the amateur presentity.The term “Amateur presentity” can be used in a traditional and a modern sense. The traditional sense refers to the kind of people who are no-professional presentities, or not living on posting information, and they become presentities just because they approach the source of some news or have lots of messages related to the news, then they release the information they have actively. The way information transmission has two routes: private and public, and most amateur presentity are one party or the insider of certain event. The modern sense of amateur presentity is the specific term in the network era, and it has updated and deeper meaning than before. Amateur presentity in the network times refers to the unofficial and civilian information producers or spreaders who own powerful tool, such as we-media, to release messages. All kind of amateur presentiy show itself in a private, civilian, general and independent way.The term “Amateur presentity” is a creative concept and never exists before. It’s author’s summary by studying the characteristics and mechanism of information transmission of We-media in network era. This paper builds upon the performance and features of the modern net, combining with relative information of other subjects. The author found the point that amateur presentiry is not a new phenomenon, and it has been existing from ancient times. Along with the development of communication and media, the evolution of amateur presentity has been through three periods: interpersonal communication period, mass communication period and we-media period.This article will outline the overall context, and lucubrate the traits showed in each period, especially the We-media era. What’s more, in this paper, the We-media users, cyber citizens and information producers below-the-line will be included in a wider range of concept, and the author emphasizes the traits, mechanism transmission and social influence of them, in order to provide reference material for our government, society and especially the professional presentity to re-examine all different kinds of personal information producers and re-publishers.
