Remote sensing is a commonly used and comprehensive earth observation technology,,in many aspects, such as forestry, Marine, agricultural, military remote sensing is playing an more and more important role. Now, remote sensing technology is more and more mature, all kinds of remote sensing images token by remote sensing satellites also have a large rise both on quantity and quality. At the same time, this development also brings some problems about mass remote sensing images’data storage and processing, which are urgent to be solved. The efficiency of the processing of massive remote sensing images is faced with a acid test.Among the varies of the remote sensing image processing algorithms, geometric correction is one of the most basic and most important step, there is no practical application value of remote sensing images without geometric correction. Currently, most of the organizations always use software to do the geometric correction of remote sensing images, although this method is simple and efficient, but there are limitations in the face of massive remote sensing images. The geometric correction of remote sensing images based on the algorithm has a better scalability, which can lay the foundation for further implementation of distributed processing of remote sensing images. This article aim at the geometric correction processing of remote sensing images, research on the basic knowledge of remote sensing、types of sensors、imaging theory of remote sensing images as well as the reasons of geometric distortion, proposes a geometric rectification algorithm of remote sensing images based on the ground control points. This algorithm is mainly using geographic affine transformation to realize the geometric rectification of remote sensing images, and finally, complete the test experiments of the algorithm based on the remote sensing images taken by the PMS camera, which is carried by a satellite named GF-1.
