The Application Of PTN Technology In Metropolitan Area Network

In recent years, with the rapid development of IP technology, the IP communications business network has extended to the core of network from the edge of telecommunication. Its hosted business category has developed rapidly in recent years from the basic business of fixed-line data and voice to 3G/4G business. Under such business requirements, the original Multi Service Transmission Platform (MSTP) network is obviously incompetent. It needs to transform the original MSTP network to IP transport network. How to upgrade it smoothly, without affecting existing business, is important to the major carriers and equipment manufacturers.Packet Transport Network (PTN) is a packet-switched based kernel and a connection-oriented end-to-end delivery technology. It supports for multiple packet transmission technology with business hosting, and can provide complete management for various business functions, Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) service. PTN configure their centralized network management statically with Multi-Protocol Label Switching-Transport Profile (MPLS-TP), Provider Backbone Bridge-Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE) and so on.In this paper, the application of PTN technology in metropolitan area network is researched and analyses.First of all, PTN technology and applications is introduced.Secondly, the principle and key technologies for packet transport network technology, including end-to-end QoS in PTN technology, OAM functions, protection mechanisms, precision clock synchronization, and so on is expounded.Thirdly, the PTN development planning in metropolitan area network is introduced. The physical layer and service layer framework of the PTN system is analyzed separately.Finally, the application scheme of PTN technology in metropolitan area network is integrated design, and the system framework, as well as business hosting plan is given.
