Compared with the tradit ional experiments, simulation experiments have large factor quantity, variety of factor type and mult iple of objects. If we take all factors into consider, the scale of experiment may be too large to operate. The Pareto theorem reckons that only a small amount of factors have important effects on the output. Therefore, we need to screen the important factors to improve the efficiency of simulation experiments. Therefore, we carry out the following researches focus on this issue.Firstly, the process model of factor screening for simulation experiments is proposed and prescreening methods are researched. This paper provides the process model of factor screening for simulation experiments based on the features of screening methods and simulation experiment, which could guide the screening process. Then, this paper researches on two prescreening methods foreshadow the screening methods, including the method based on Latin hypercube sampling and regression analysis and the method based on fraction factorial.Secondly, this paper researches on the factor screening methods for simulation experiment. A handful of screening methods including sequential bifurcation and controlled sequential bifurcation were described, and their characters were evaluated. In the process of comparing the screening methods, this paper proposes evaluation criterion for them so that experimenters could choose appropriate method within their requirement.Thirdly, this paper designs and imple ments the screening tool for the simulation experiments. The tool was applied both on the deterministic mathematical models and reality cases. Simulation experiments have large factor quantity, variety of factor type and multiple of objects, this paper designs and implements the screening tool to improve the effic iency of simulation experiments. When the experimenters have little prior knowledge, this tool could assist the experimenters complete the screening experiment within an appropriate power.Finally, the conclusion and next reseach direction of this paper was provided.
