With the development of modern industry, industrial control network plays an increasingly important role in improving production efficiency, controlling production process, ensuring safety in production and other industrial control and manufacturing fields. However, due to the controlled object geographical dispersion, and a control device for monitoring tasks is real-time requirements, the field of industrial control are in urgent need of a distributed real-time control system. Under this background, the industrial Ethernet technology based on Ether CAT is proposed, which uses traditional Ethernet components. With the characteristics of long distance transmission, large packet, high speed and so on, it has been widely used in the field of industrial control system. In this paper, we design an industrial Ethernet control system based on Ether CAT. This system consists of a master and a few slave stations, and the master bases on UC/OS II real-time operating system. Firstly, this paper introduces the principle of the basic technology of Ether CAT protoco l. And then introduces the structure of system components of this design from the aspects of hardware. The whole system is divided into two parts: master and slave station. The master station is mainly composed of S3C6410 processor and general network chip DM9000, and the slave stations are composed of STM32F107 and ET1100 of BECKHOFF. The software of the system includes the design of software of master and slaves. As for the master mainly discuss the initialization process of the system and the Ether CAT pr otocol and how to realize the transmission of process data and mailbox data. As for the slaves, mainly focus on the design of state machine and the processing of process data and mailbox data. Thirdly, analyze the real-time performance of data transmission, discuss several factors which affect the real-time performance, and then design a short delay model of the process data transmission. Also, here find out several factors which affect the reliability of the system. Finally, we test the transmission delay, system packet loss rate, and the basic function of mailbox data communication on the hardware system we design. The experimental results show that when the system has only one slave and the transmission data length is 10 bytes, the transmission delay is only about 154 us. This provides a feasible solution for industrial real-time monitoring.
