The People Weekly Magazine is the only legal official journal promoting Marx’s theory of the Chinese Communist Party(CCP) in Kuomintang-ruled areas. From 1938 October to 1946 June, this magazine was published in Chongqing.Based on the National Social Science Fund Project- " The discoursive power of the China Communist Party during the Anti Japanese War "(No. 08BXW004), this article scrutinizes the content of the magazine and its relation with discoursive power of the CCP. Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, this research tries to transcend the traditional research path of party newspaper and concentrate on the issue of discoursive power. This article relies mainly on theories relating to media and audience behavior and Gramsci’s cultural hegemony theory to see how the CCP was presented and how the capacity of cultural leadership was enhanced.
