As the development of Information Technology and Internet, Io T(Internet of Things) hasbecome the import part in this information generation, and it’s used wider and wider. Base onthe Internet and other communication technology, Io T connects any objects to objects for datatransferring and communicating, in order to collect, transfer and apply huge of data. However,it still has many technical difficulties to implement high efficient, reliable and lowconsumption Io T communication, because many terminal device of Io T is limit of resources,computing and the bandwidth of transferring. MQTT is a lightweight publish/subscribecommunication protocol base on agent. The idea of MQTT is open, simple, lightweight andeasy to use, so it’s very fit for Io T communication, and it has become a international standerprotocol of OASIS, probably it will become an import part of Io T. It’s popular to use MQTTprotocol to implement Io T communication at present.This paper illustrates the subject background and the source project. It aim to implementthe communication function of Io T project which the writer has participated in, and researchhigher efficient, lower bandwidth, lower consumption communication service. First of all,study MQTT protocol in detail, especially research the heartbeat mechanism of MQTT, andput forward the Adaptive Heartbeat Mechanism(AHM). AHM uses dichotomy to quicklysearch the best value of heartbeat in order to keep the permanent network connection, anduses the fast heartbeat process to reduce the influence of network package loss. The result ofapplication experiment shows that AHM can adaptively find the best value of heartbeat indifferent network environment, to keep the permanent network connection, and reduce thedevice battery consumption as well as network flow at the same time. After that, apply MQTTprotocol which it’s based on AHM to implement the communication function of actual Io Tproject. Illustrate the communication requirement of Io T project system, the design of MQTTapplication, and the implementation of MQTT communication function in system. Finally,give the test and analysis in function and performance. Applying MQTT protocol which it’sbased on AHM to implement communication function has satisfied the communicationrequirement of project system, and achieves high efficient, low bandwidth, low consumptioncommunication.
