The output regulation is a well central control problem in the control community, which addresses the problem of designing a feedback controller for an uncertain system to achieve asymptotic tracking for a class of reference inputs and disturbance rejection for a class of disturbances both generated by a so-called exosystem while maintaining closed-loop stability. Due to the uncertainties and complexities of controlled plants and exosystems, the output regulation problem has been one of most challenging issues in the control field.This thesis mainly consists of two parts. Based on internal model principle, the first part focuses on exploring the robust output regulation problem for a class of nonlinear output feedback systems under nonlinear exosystems. The second part further researches on the applications of the internal model principle. The main content contains the following 5 parts:1. Based on the related references and previous research work, a review is given on the research contents and current status of the theory of output regulation problem, moreover, putting forward the research content of this thesis.2. Reviewing some relevant theory concepts, mainly including stability、system immersed and some commonly used mathematical lemma.3. In view of the global robust output regulation problem of the general output feedback systems with nonlinear exosystem, we propose a new nonlinear internal model to solve the output regulation problem via combining with robust stabilization methods and techniques. This part of our thesis aims to do some work on expanding the external signal that the robust output regulation problem of nonlinear system can allow.4. Basing on the development of internal model design method, we consider the global robust output regulation problem of a class of general output feedback systems with nonlinear exosystem. In particular, our thesis put Chua’s circuit system as a controlled object, the Van der pol oscillator act as the nonlinear exosystem. By considering the chaotic control problem of nonlinear systems as an output regulation problem, we solve the chaotic control problem of Chua’s circuit system by using of the former results. This part of the thesis gives the application of internal model principle in practical problems.5. The paper summarizes the research contents, and the further research direction is pointed out.
