This paper investigates and analyzes the interaction process and results of the communication between exchange students to the university in Taiwan, who come from the mainland especially from Nanjing University, and the native people in Taiwan. From the perspective of theory, we focus on not only the cognitive bias to the mainland China from the native people in Taiwan but also the reconstitution of the stereotypes of mainland China and then we are going to find out how the interpersonal cross-culture communication works on dissolving the cognitive bias. Generally, the cognitive bias reduction and stereotypes reconstitution are achieved to some degrees by the communication between the exchange students and the native through three levels:individual, group and medium. At the individual contact level, the mainland students gain recognition by their hard work and capacity, they make friends with the native and share their ideas with them. At last, as friends of the exchange students, more and more Taiwan people realize that the stereotypes to the mainland should be abandoned. At the group contact level, the exchange students participate in community activities and volunteer organizations. These activities make the exchange students and the native people much closer besides they are from different areas and the activities help them to establish the common cognition and mutual trust. In the perspective of media contact, the popular social network sites among the young people play an important role in promoting and sustaining the relationship of the students across the Taiwan Strait as a rational communication platform. For the results, it is obvious that the native people in Taiwan don’t consider the mainland China poor and backward anymore by the communication with the exchanged students. And in addition, the cognition of "the same origin" created by the communicating has significantly changed the culture stereotype between mainland and Taiwan. However, hardly any people talk about the topic that the individual is in the side of pro-unification or not. "Never talk about politics" makes the communication much more different and complicated from "cognition" to "identity". According to the issue, in order to bring out the non-governmental communication in politics level across the Taiwan Strait, we should treat the difference in politics cognition objectively based on understanding and respecting each other. Otherwise, we couldn’t eliminate the bias from the source and reconstitute the cognition at all.
