With the rapid development of telecommunication technology, the application of intelligent transportation system appeared at the right moment. Automobile, as the no-de of intelligent transportation system, can be easily connected to the internet with the usage of 3G or 4G communication network provided by Chinese mobile service deal-ers. However, at present, the unreasonable price set and low quality of service restrict the development of internet connection in automobiles.In recent years, it has already been proved to be feasible with the large scale deployment of the access points along-side the road and the usage of 802.11 standards or DSRC telecommunication technology which connected automobiles with those infrastructures to realize information interaction on the internet.This thesis introduced the vehicle communication on the road based on VANET within the context of vehicle communication of the highway environment. It also studied the vehicle system of cooperative communication and media access, meanwhile established the auxiliary download method to offset the communication interruption of blind area because of infrastructure deficiencies by the side of the road. The following are the main contents of this paper.(1) The thesis introduced main organization standards and related concepts of VANET, researched the major type of communication and functional entity under the on-board environment and elaborated the system and structure of VANET.(2) The thesis defined the advantages of 802.11P and WAVE protocol as communication protocol of VANET compared with other communication media by introducing the cooperative communication structure and communication protocol of VANET. At the same time, it also studied the vehicle mechanism of multi-channel communication protocol.(3) Focusing on the limited communication range of RSU under highway environment and the condition that most of the vehicles are in the blind spots of download when they communicate at the same station, the thesis studied the com-munication mechanism based on redundant download of data nodes and tried to improve the handling capacity of system data by choosing a appropriate portable set of node and the algorithm for data assignment.(4) This thesis introduced the application of vehicle network for car supervision from the angle of engineering application. The main research is about the resolution for car supervision and security control by connecting vehicle network with insurance under the structure of VANET communication.
