With the wide application of virtualization technology in cloud computing, virtualization technology brings many advantages for cloud computing, such as saving costs, reducing energy consumption, reducing the use of physical space, simplifying and enhancing the flexibility of using environment, speeding up supply of services, improving the return on investment(ROI). As a natural extension of virtualization technology, the virtual image management can help cloud service providers to further improve production efficiency and reduce production costs.In a typical IT infrastructure, like cloud computing platform, due to users’ s demand for cloud computing resources increasing, the number of virtual machines and virtual images created by users have increased sharply. Because users can easily create a virtual image or copy the virtual image to a new environment, and the capacity of the virtual image is generally over several GB or even dozens of GB, so lots of disordered virtual images increased in the cloud platform has become a huge problem that cloud service providers have to face.It is difficult for users to choose suitable virtual image according to the description, if there are thousands of virtual images in the virtual environment. Users often create some "disposable" virtual images for a specific scene or development and testing environment without timely treatment, resulting in a growing number of virtual images in virtual environments and making the problem of virtual image’s endless sprawl more serious.This thesis builds a standardized virtual image library from the perspective of classification of business type. It provides users with virtual images on which packaged with softwares based on business type classification, and maximally satisfies users ‘s needs for virtual images. Through a thorough understanding of the virtual image, when the user creates a virtual image, it uses multi-criteria query to guide users to choose their own virtual image and only create a new virtual mirror when it is pretty sure that the virtual image does not exist. Virtual image management uses version control management, stores the changes between the virtual images and makes it is convenient for user to roll back to an older version of a virtual image, so it can not only save storage space for virtual images, but also provide users with a more convenient service. It also can inhibit mirror form increasing disorderly, make managers find malicious image and improper use of virtual images, shorten the time that user takes to obtain a image service, reduce man-made errors and provide users with the best version of the virtual image.
