Information management is to guarantee that the enterprises can reduce operational costs and improve the operation and management ability. Along with market competition continues to intensify, the enterprise policy-makers urgently need to obtain the enterprise information from the perspective of finance, sales, production, services, and other angle for the management. Through the implementation of the ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) system, enterprises can shorten lead times, reduce costs, improve customer satisfaction and loyalty, optimize the value chain, and achieve the goal of enhanced core competitiveness.In view of the difficult ERP system application of the current domestic enterprise and the low success rate, starting from the theoretical and practical angles and using the Petro China Qinghai sales company as the research object, we performed a comprehensive analysis and research for the implementation of ERP systems in large-scale production and sales enterprises. The goals of need, selection and application profile of ERP system were summarized; the stage application strategy, key issues, and the limitations in implementation were also analyzed. In the process of thesis writing, striving to combine theory with practice, we elucidated ERP management theory with a combination of the actual business situation of Petro China Qinghai sales company, studied the convergence of ERP and enterprise financial management information systems, as well as financial management information system design, function module settings, and peripheral system integration, and so on, and finally gave a feasible solution, which improved the level and effect of the application and implementation of ERP in enterprise.First, the paper describes briefly the meaning of ERP, the distinction with BPR, the management thinking, as well as technical features, etc. Then, ERP development in the world and in China was discussed. Also, the design ideas of the Financial Management Information System, the functional modules of the system and the implementation were analyzed. Next, the article introduces the design and implementation process of ERP system of Petro China Qinghai sales company in which the author participated, especially ERP financial management system, including the requirement analysis of ERP system functionality for the enterprise, as well as the design of various financial modules. In addition, this article summarizes a set of implementation methods suitable for domestic enterprises according to the work experience and lessons of the authors learned in the ERP system implementation in the past, including the methods of the preliminary training of the project, project organization and system design analysis.Through the construction of the ERP financial management information system, Petro China Qinghai sales company realized the enterprise centralized accounting management, standardized the financial and accounting operations, deepened financial management, avoided the risk of business operations, and improved the efficiency of enterprise management. The ERP information system has practical significance and application value for enhancement of the level of financial management, transfers financial work from “housekeeper” into “strategist”, and provides a reference for design and implementation of the financial management systems of other domestic enterprises.
