Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) and Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) are the two important ways of wireless communication. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages, to realize the effective integration of the two technologies and to make the maximum of the advantages of both technologies will be the future research focus.Wireless sensor network consists of a large number of sensor nodes deployed in the area to be monitored, and a WSN network was formed by the approach of ZigBee networking, with the characters of multi-hop and self-organization. Radio frequency identification technology can obtain identification of targets via radio frequency signals. RFID and WSN technologies have different technical characteristics.WSN can collect a variety of information in all directions, but the ability to identify objects is somewhat lacking. RFID has powerful ability to identify items to make up the disability of WSN. You can design a more intelligent and flexible communication systems by the integration of RFID and WSN. The focuses of this paper are as follows:(1) This paper analyzed the needs of the system, and then in the context of practical application, it analyzed the system technologies, detailed analyzed the integration of RFID and WSN system architecture and analyzed each fusion structure. In this paper, the fusion approach is to integrate WSN nodes with RFID readers.(2) In this paper, the hardware design of this system was realized, the design of WSN node with RFID functionality was specifically introduced, including the design of PCB schematic drawing, and the design of each module for welding and debugging of zigbee module, RFID reader module and the temperature and humidity sensor module. The hardware of the aggregation node was introduced too, including the schematic design and the PCB drawing of the ZigBee module and the USB to serial port module.(3) The system software design was achieved. The software design of WSN node with RFID functionality was described, including the design of the program and the RFID tag reader system procedures, temperature and humidity sensor control software, Z-stack protocol stack development. Then it introduced the sink node software design, including Z-stack protocol stack development, the process of creating a net work by aggregation nodes and the serial communication with the host computer. The PC interface design was presented, and the information received by the terminal nodes would be eventually presented to the user in the interface.(4) The WSN nodes with RFID function was tested through ZigBee network and was made to satisfy the requirement of displayed both the temperature and humidity information and the label information on the host computer.
