Along with the development of the Internet of things and the wisdom Urban Planning, RFID technology has received unprecedented attention; RFID is one of the family of automatic identification technology and has been widely used in our daily life account for the advantages of the high data safety, the long identification distance and the ability to read many tags at the same time. Because of that the RFID reader occupies the core position in the RFID application system, the quality of the RFID reader will decide the performance of the entire RFID system.After taking a simple analysis and a summation of the RFID readers sold in the market, this thesis puts forward a method of dual-band RFID system that UHF RFID and 2.4G microwave communication can work cooperatively. As the UHF RFID reader has a higher transmitting power when working, the method could reduce the working time of the RFID reader, lower the power consumption of the system and reduce electromagnetic emissions. At the other hand, when several readers inventory the tags in a pipeline, the interference of the reader from the others will be reduced significantly because of the different working time. In addition, after taking the method of the dual-band working, the fact that the reader can sense the tag in its area automatically can reduce the work of human. The method would enhance the safety of data after taking data encryption into the process of 2.4G microwave communication.This thesis would design and research the method of dual-band RFID system based on ARM Cortex-A8, the MCU is S5PV210 of Samsung specifically on account of the advantage of the higher running speed, bigger storage space, plenty of interface. The code of Linux is entirely open source so that can be widely adopted, and the design chose Linux as the system software for the reader. Linux has a unique advantage in the area of the efficiency of code execution and safety that making the reader system quicker and more stable. Thank for the platform of A8, the reader would take WinCE or Android, and user could choose his own system. It would be convenience for application and secondary development by using the plenty of interface. In short, there are broad application prospects for the reader designed in this thesis.
