The Research On Pentaho Business Intelligence Technology Applied To Chinese Medicine Enterprises

In the rapid development of information technology today, the manufacturing enterprises of Chinese Medicine face a number of challenges and pressure, such as product lifecycle reduction, diminishing returns of traditional marketing method and channel, increased production costs etc. These problems prompt the manufacturing enterprises of Chinese Medicine to seek the methods of reducing costs, increasing efficiency and improving the standard of decision-making. All pharmaceutical enterprises have been forced to choose the way of information management. The development of information technology has provided those pharmaceutical enterprises a lot of data and information resources. Analysis and exploitation of enterprise information resources not only enhance understanding of enterprise business, improves decision-making towards enterprise management, but also discover the market chance and development model, it is conducive to gain the sustainable competitive advantage. Business Intelligence emerge at the right moment due to the urgent need of analyzing and using the large amount of enterprise basis data. In this context, this article analyzed and designed the business intelligence solution for the manufacturing enterprises of Chinese Medicine.Based on Pentaho open-source framework, this article adopts B/S architecture and J2EE development platform, designs business intelligence analysis system for the manufacturing enterprise of Chinese Medicine by Building a data warehouse and online analytical processing. By using the method of prototype, end users participate in the requirements design of building a data warehouse and offer comments and feedback continually until the design satisfies user needs. In the end, determine the data warehouse topics and build a data warehouse model. In the database layer, according to the requirements analysis, this article uses star schema to design data warehouse and extract, transform and load basis data based on the Kettle, which is an open-source data integration framework. In online analytical processing, this paper applies Pentaho Schema Workbench to design olap schema files, uses mondrian olap core engine to parse the olap schema files and realizes the olap view by adopting Saiku analysis suite, which is based on JackRabbbit, OAuth, JSON and XML data communication, and use Multidimensional Expressions(MDX) to realize the interaction of system and customer. In self-defined report, this paper introduces the Pentaho Report Design in detail, including designing report, publishing report and showing the charts in the pentaho business intelligence platform. In the part of data mining, this article performs a market basket analysis on transactional retail data based on weka.The study results of this paper prove that making a business intelligence solution for manufacturing enterprises of Chinese Medicine based on Pentaho is a feasible plan. Pentaho takes workflow as its core, emphasizes solution-oriented not tool-oriented, provides full-featured, integrated and easy-to-use data analysis platform. It integrates the business system data, builds a data warehouse and realizes the online analysis processing and data visualization for the manufacturing enterprises of Chinese Medicine. The business intelligence study of the manufacturing enterprises of Chinese Medicine provides decision support for the manager, improves enterprises business performance and enhance the core competence of enterprises further.
