With the development of video and image processing technology, video surveillance has been applied successfully in many industries and fields such as intelligent traffic system, intelligent security system. Because of increased use of venue, monitoring the venue status online and offering high quality service has become the first thing of venue management. Application of video and image processing technology in this filed has important research significance.This paper is devoted to the study of seat status detection method and other important technology in venue by using video and image processing technology. Based on these, venue management system was built and applied successfully, which proved the efficiency and effectiveness of our method. The main contents include the following three aspects:Proposed a moving target detection method in venues based on background subtraction algorithm. Divide the venue into blocks according to venue seating map, and then run detect method in each block to decide which seats belong to the moving targets. Application results have proved that the method is a fast moving object detection algorithm with the average speed of 67 frames per second.Proposed a real-time seat status detection method based on fusion of multiple features. Extracted on seat photos, HOG, GIST and SIFT features are inputted into SVM, and then fusing the classification results to ensure the accuracy and robustness. Before this, using ViBe algorithm to decrease time cost by filtering out unchanged seats, which realizes the real-time detection method. Application results have proved the effectiveness and efficiency of our method.Developed a venue management system based on video and image processing technology. Based on seat status detection method, the system can display any change of seat status in the interaction interface, while supporting users’ management operations. Application results in real venue management system have proved that performance of the system meet the need of venue management.
