In 1990s, the system of market economy was established,which resulted in major social changes in the field of ideology and culture in China.As an important cultural industry,book publishing was affected by the huge changes in political and economic areas,and it began the process of marketization.Popular books,which caused wide public opinion,reflected various and complicated culture phenomena and ideology in 1990s.For the reasons above,this thesis will be based on the examples of hot books, under the background of the publishing system reform influenced by market economy system.Meanwhile,this dissertation will combine the shift in market consciousness,analyzing ideological and culture origin of hot books,concluding the characters of the hot books to sketch an ideological map of 1990s.This research mainly adopts data analysis,literature research, interviews, interdisciplinary research methods,selecting, assorting and filing the documents from material management,which will form the foundation of future research in history of 1990s’publishing.To research the 90’s domestic hot books in an open,cross cultural study view,relating it to social, political, economic and cultural circumstances in China,analyzing, considering the relationship between economy,politics,ideology and publishing,will provide a new view to study the publishing activities and provide reference to future popular books of high-value of ideology.
