With the improvement of electronic equipment level of integration, the heat of improvement will increase gradually. For these electronic equipment, excess heat will cause equipment failure if there will not be an effective way of cooling. Therefore, it is necessary to make air cooling to the electronic equipment. In the course of air cooling, the particulate matters (PM) in the fresh air current must be removed effectively, in order to avoid clinging to the panel that may impact heat dissipation. As the core part of the system of air purifying materials for the cooling electronic improvement, because of low capacity of the fan, low air volume and air pressure, filter media differs from the conventional ones. Filtering performance and service life of filter media will directly affect the reliable operation and safe usage of electronic equipment. As a consequence, performance research on the filtration of air purifying materials for the cooling electronic equipment is of great realistic importance.This paper bases on the prior methodological experiment from others which aims at some problems of cooling electronic equipment in use at scene, a systematic experiment scheme is put forward and designed, the mechanisms of particles collection and fibrous filter, all this operate and direct the way for improving performance of filter media. For the three kinds of six typical filter media, the regular conclusion can be made according to the experiment of physical parameters, resistance characteristics of clean state, resistance characteristics of dust holding state, dust filtering efficiency, characteristic of dust filtering-velocity and drainage property. This paper compares the physical parameters of the same kind of different filter media, the static resistance performance and the variation performance of resistance with time under the different humidity. The influence of pore diameter, filter velocity and humidity on filtering efficiency of six filter media has been analyzed. As a result, dust filtering performance indicators of Black foaming sponge and fiber layer filter media and fiber layer hydrophobic filter media are available.According to the result of experiment and statistics, this paper sets up the mathematical relation of resistance of filter media and dust concentration, filtering velocity, time and filter efficiency. At the same time it makes a verification herein which can be used to forecast the service life of air filter material. The index of experiment can be used as the source when choosing air filter material and also be used as a direction of products improvement and innovation.
