During these years, the telecommunication network had been dramatically developed,and the40Gbit/s system has become the main subject in the field of long-haulDWDM(Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) transmission network deployment,and government has taken the ultra-long haul and ultra-large capacity DWDM transmissioninto national “863” project.At present, the domestic installed backbone networks give priority to the40Gbit/sDWDM systems, while100Gbit/s equipment had been put into market after experimentalstudy. Up to now, the ultra-long haul DWDM transmission has received considerabledevelopment, the breakthrough has been made for the respect of transmission capacity,transmission length and spectrum utilization and so on. However, the chromatic dispersionand the polarization mode dispersion has prevented the signal speed from improving forthe next step in the long haul system with large capacity, at the same time the severenonlinear optical effect has prevented the number of multiplexed channel fromaccumulating and multiplexed channel spacing from reducing. The novel modulationformat is an important technology appeared during these years, easing the effect factorshad given on the system. With the integrated application of novel modulation format andother novel technologies, the capacity and length of can be totally improved, as well astransmission quality.This paper proposes a novel APol-CSRZ-FSK modulation format used in the40Gbit/shigh-speed transmission system upon the basis of existing ons in the presentcommunication system concluding fortes of frequency shift keying, alternate polarizationformat and carrier-suppressed return-to-zero format. It described the generation principal,the transmission characteristics and its application field in details. At the mean time, thetransmission situation can be simulated using the VPI simulation software, and itsconsequent can be taken into account when analyzing the transmission performance underdifferent frequency interval and different dispersion compensation. This paper also simulates DQPSK contrasting it with APol-CSRZ-FSK in the same situation. The result ofAPol-CSRZ-FSK simulation has proved that it has better transmission property thanDQPSK when situation are equal. As a result, APol-CSRZ-FSK will be a candidate in thefuture WDM-PON or optical label switching network system.
