With the widespread trend of smart phones and3G/4G cellular networks, people’s need forhigh speed data service has experienced a booming increase. At the same time, most of people’svoice and data services took place in the indoor scenario, so big challenges were encountered forthe current cellular network architecture which mainly consists of macro cells.Initially, femtocell was proposed as a new means to improve indoor coverage, and to solve theradio signal coverage problem in some areas. Furthermore, HNB and core network was directlyconnected via IP connections, providing smooth data services experience. Besides, the downlinkdata rate of the latest HSPA/LTE network was as good as fixed broadband. Therefore, femtocellnetwork was an ideal choice tackling home integrated access issues. As HNBs were deployed randomly, and lack of careful planning and optimization, introducingsevere interference for the existing network. Nowadays, frequency allocation and power controlwere two techniques used to cancel the interference between macro cells and femtocells. This thesis mainly focused on topics as follows. First, a brief overview of femtocell networkwas presented, and comparisons about the coverage range, transmitting power and throughout ofHNBs in macro cell(rural area)and micro cell(urban area)scenarios were discussed. Then, frequency allocation techniques were considered, a comparison between orthogonal frequencyallocation and soft frequency reuse was also raised. Finally, power control stategies in femtocellwere discussed, The new algorithm considering the locations of HUE, MUE and HNB, has a betterperformance than the existing algorithms.
