With the rapid development of the digital manufacturing information technology, itwill inevitably request that the manufacturing technology of enterprises have developed,in order to realize the CAD/CAE/CAPP/CAM integration. In the basis of the original2D-CAPP, how to realize3D-CAPP technology has become one of the urgent problemsrequired by many enterprises.In view of the present most of the commercial CAPP system, it still runs on thetwo dimensional platform. Because of the many problems of the2D-CAD system, itaffects the efficiency and development of enterprises. Under the circumstances, thispaper puts forward Shell3D process design and simulation.In the basis of analysis and research of the current CAPP, the overall structure ofbased on the three-dimensional CAPP system is proposed, and a detailed design schemeto build up various functional modules is also presented. Then process design and datamanagement about implementing are analyzed. And the process and manufacturing leadto design. The three-dimensional CAPP system is basically realized. And using of NCmachining simulation achieves a three-dimensional visualization Shell NC machiningsimulation and improved processing efficiency. The main research work includesfollowing several:(1) Proposing a three-dimensional design program CAPP system, and details thevarious functional modules three-dimensional CAPP system; Three-dimensionalproduct of Shell design process based on the processing characteristics is achieved.(2) In this paper, with the use of Pro/TOOLKIT and MFC class library of VisualStudio, application of user’s interface of CAPP system is developed. Moreover, thetask to design three dimensional model of process parts, to pick up the size of geometryinformation and add non geometry information; Interface design of three-dimensionalproduct of Shell design process based on the processing characteristics, Featureextraction and realization of various functional modules are realized; Interfacedesigning and realization of various functions of the CNC system management systemare completed. (3) The expert knowledge shell areas are summarized,and using of expert systemdevelopment tools ESDK build process route knowledge engineering, by knowledgereasoning, automatic generation of smart technology design process route is achieved.(4) The visualization CNC machining simulation of shell products are conductedand numerical control management system to achieve the establishment of the NCprogram management and processing parameters is builded.The instance proves that the research is practical and feasible, it is very high valuefor practice and extension.
