Medical rehabilitation has its own distinguishing features: it demandsa long-time heavy labor which is usually repeated and users especially inrehabilitation cases for lower limbs are usually inconvenient to move. With the aging process of modern society, the amount of patientssuffering from stroke, joint diseases and paralysis increases evidently. Itis a brand new challenge for modern society to make sure that patientscan get diagnosis and enough rehabilitation training in time conveniently, according to the increasing rehabilitation demand. This paper focuses on the design and realization of a rehabilitationsystem based on smart healthcare using exoskeleton rehabilitation robotsfor lower limbs. The key technology of smart healthcare is IoT (theInternet of Things) which realizes the informatization of Things inrehabilitation system and brings high efficiency and rapid response. Inthis paper, exoskeleton rehabilitation robots for lower limbs are includedinto the system as a key part using it terminal functions to rehabilitatepatients mainly. Combining IoT and database with informationmanagement, the rehabilitation system is smart and suitable forhome-based telerehabilitation and community-based telerehabilitation. The main work of this paper includes following contents: Things aredefined and the structure of IoT is built to design infrastructure of arehabilitation system based on smart healthcare; the design of mechanicalexoskeleton parts is optimized, and kinematics as well as kinetics analysisis applied; a proposed strategy is achieved with analysis of rehabilitationfunctions in different robot types; RFID is used to identify users anddevices automatically with a standard coding method; combined with theInternet, GSM module is used to construct the web; database isestablished to restore the information of Things; with former technologies, a information management system is coded and built for both patients andmedical staff. Moreover, a design method is given in this paper to realizeautomating rehabilitation strategy and subsystem configuration, anddetailed rehabilitation strategy automating theory is approached andproved with further study.
