Particles are ubiquitous in nature and particle system is a typical non-equilibriumsystem. In this paper, we introduce the CT image processing, including the phaseretrieval in the pre-processing, reconstruction process and removing the ring usingwavelet-FFT filter. We utilize the X-rays generated from the third-generationsynchrotron source to study the properties of three-dimensional rod-like granularsystem. On the one hand, we have studied the static structures of rod packing. Wesystematically investigated the effect of particle shape and aspect ratio on structuralproperties including packing density, the mean contact number and the paircorrelation function. It turns out that the excluded volume effect will be enhanced asthe aspect ratio increases and the mean contact number will also increase as the aspectratio increases. On the other hand, we study the dynamics of three-dimensional rodgas. We adopt the method of active contour models and coordinate transformation toobtain trajectories of particles, we found the velocity distribution does not satisfy theMaxwell-Boltzmann distribution, the translational and rotational motions arecoupled in a short time for the anisotropic rods.
