Wireless sensor network (WSN) can proceed with data acquisition, data fusion and data transmission independently. WSN nodes can form a network in the form of self-organizing. They can communicate with each other through wireless. Currently, WSN has been widely used in various fields, such as medical, smart home, environmental monitoring and so on, and bring a great convenience to us. However, WSN nodes’energy is based on battery so that the energy is very limited. And some application environment is too hard to replace the battery. So, how to effectively use WSN nodes’ energy is a difficult problem in WSN field. Designing an energy-efficient routing protocol is a good way to solve this problem.Researching on existing WSN routing protocols, using the solving the shortest path advantages of Ant colony algorithm and minimum hop algorithm’s topology structure, proposed and implemented a WSN routing protocol which is suitable for large-scale nodes. Firstly, this paper introduced the basic idea of the algorithm detailedly. Secondly, this article introduced the implementation of the routing algorithm. Finally, In order to verify the efficiency of the routing algorithm, using C++to create the WSN simulation environment and compare with the routing algorithm which are researched recently in the two aspects of algorithm convergence speed and network lifetime. The results showed that the routing algorithm in this article was superior to the current relatively new kinds of routing algorithm in convergence speed and network lifetime, and minimized the WSN node’s energy consumption, and made entire network load balance. Moreover, this article combines WSN and the embedded technology, and designs an environment information remote monitoring system based on WSN. According to the functional requirements of the monitoring system, the system will be designed as four modules which contain the terminal node, the coordinator node, the server and mobile terminal. The processors of terminal node and the coordinator node are all embedded chip CC2530, these two kinds of nodes use ZigBee technology to communicate with each other. WSN terminal nodes transmit the data to the coordinator nodes through the wireless network. The coordinator nodes will process the data and send them to the server side through GPRS module. This article uses socket technology to design the server side program. This program will process the data which received from the coordinator nodes, then store the data into database, meanwhile process the request of mobile terminate. Mobile terminal’s processor is embedded chip S3C2440A, and the application is developed with Qt technology. The main function of mobile terminal is to collect environmental information and display to user visually. The user can also send a query to the server. In order to verify the feasibility of this system. In the light of the features of the facility agricultural environment, selecting the corresponding sensor and designing the mobile terminal monitoring software. Then, this paper tests the system performance as well as alarm function and ZigBee data transmission function in the laboratory. The experimental results showed that the performance of the system which designed in this article could meeted the requests of actual environmental monitoring. It could bring great convenience to access to environmental information. Finally, analyzing the result of the experiment, putting forward some defect of the research in this article as well as the subsequent related work. Meanwhile, the paper prospects the future applications of the WSN routing algorithm and remote monitoring system in this article.
