| In recent years, how to change writing style of media has become an hot issue. On the guide of "Close to life, close to reality, close to people", the specific method and measure for writing style improvement has become particularly important. The paper is going to choose the national political news of Xinhua’s, which is a news writing paradigm on Chinese press circle as study object, to give some suggestions for language change and writing style improvement by observing its language features from the prospective of linguistics.The paper is going to use Halliday’s system-functional linguistics, which is linguistics of manipuility for language analysis as theory, to contrast and analyze the language features between current news of Xinhua’s and Reuters’. Specifically, the paper will study its features of nominalization, quotation, modal system, topic chain, thematic progression pattern and message structure.The study results indicated that, Xinhua’s current news has a series of features in system-functional linguistics:its nominalized structure is more and longer; the indirect quotation has taken up a larger proportion in total quotation; the compulsory modal has taken up a larger proportion in total modal system with monotonous pattern; its topic chain is more and larger; it tends to use more larger block of text and more topic chain which comment on end focus.The research results have provided linguistic explanation on Xinhua’s writing style such as "serious","solemn","explicit" and controversies such as "monotonous","stylized writing","documentary pattern " and has given some suggestions for the modification. |
